According to the official Danish website, "nine out of ten people in Denmark own a bike," which is a significant reason why the country boasts a great cycling infrastructure. With mostly flat terrain, bicycles are used for a variety of purposes: commuting to work or school, running errands, exercising, and even as a social activity, where friends and family come together to enjoy the outdoors.

Kasper, who works at a local bike shop in the city of Aarhus, highlights how Danish urban planning prioritizes cyclists. "I think in general, compared to many other places, it’s very good in Denmark," he explains. "There are many cycling lanes which are well separated from the road. I would say it’s generally very safe." This focus on cycling infrastructure reflects the country’s commitment to creating a secure and efficient environment for bikers.

In many Danish cities, cycling is the fastest way to travel from one place to another. But beyond its speed, it also serves as a great way to stay active. As Kasper puts it, "It’s never a bad thing to get out and do some kind of physical activity." The benefits of cycling are not only practical but also contribute to a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle, enhancing the quality of life for individuals and the community as a whole.
